Remembering Warren

Thursday, October 27th, 2005 by Scott

Well its been a year now since Dad died. A couple of weeks ago I asked you guys about what sort of rituals that you might be thinking of to remember the bald one. In a funny way being way down at the end of the world, the sunny warm summery end of the world, makes me feel a long long way away and I miss him a great deal. So being a ritual guy myself, I have tried out a couple of things :

1. Ate Chinese take away last night (combination fried rice)
2. Toasted him with a rye and ginger
3. Tonight Leigh and I will go out to honest Lawyer (and have another rye)

If the weather is good I may try out going for a gold panning trip up in the hills tomorrow. Mom has gone and visited Dad and then going to a play by one of his favorite authors, Terry is gonna chip rocks (wear eye protection mate) and then have a rye ….. what about the rest of you?

I brough a small portion of Dad’s ashes back to NZ with me thinking I would spread them off the deck. I’ve decided that I might hang onto them for a little longer. I might even make a little rimu box for them to be in.

You may or may not have noticed that I added Terry and Viv’s Flickr sites on the header of the web site. Check them out! They take some fine pictures!

2. Another bee colony was created from a nucleous. It wil be joined to another hive in two weeks.
3. I got my solar bees wax melter working, and making a mess. Modifications are under consideration.
4. Geocaches were found.
5. The normal lawnmowing ect.
6. Sam is buying MORE apple gear.

Weather Links

I thought this a cool little link. In addtion to the data …. that is always interesting, at the bottom is a webcam picture taken facing right towards my place of employment. About 1/3 the way up the left hand side you can see a row of buildings just behind the water. Moving left to right about 1/10 the way along you see a pink building ,actually two pink buildings. I am in the right hand building at the bottom. Look closely I’m smiling at my computer.

Kai Ora is a boy…

Friday, October 14th, 2005 by Ian

We’ve known it for some time, but I’m just getting over my embarassment at not noticing earlier. Our new kitten…Kia Ora is definately a boy. DEFINATELY. So, we were thinking of changing HIS name to “Nelson” (to mirror Scott’s dog, “Calgary”), but I don’t think it’ll happen. The name is stuck. I guess it’s not TOO bad a boy’s name…good thing it wasn’t “Tinkerbell” or something.
