The Squid is up….for now

Monday, October 30th, 2006 by Ian

The server had a bit of a power supply meltdown this afternoon. I have it back up because I happened to have the right power supply in my crawlspace (what ARE the chances?!), but it’s hobbling and roughly cobbled together.

Hopefully in the next little while I’ll get it up in a more solid fashion. Maybe even a “new” (Read: slightly less old) computer. For now, I’ll just be happy and get ALL my information off the drives!

Woo hoo!

Two years on

In honour of Warren I’m heading out tonight (with Leigh) to the Honest Lawyer for dinner and a pint of “Macs Gold”. I miss the old guy!

Flight Time

Thursday, October 26th, 2006 by Scott

I’m becoming quite good at this radio controlled slope soaring caper. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been getting regular flights of 20 minutes to an hour. The real challenge now is flying in lighter winds when you have to be very careful and not push the glider around and of course landings. Half of my landings are “slow – stall – spin – splat”. The EPP glider sure takes a beating and keeps coming back. I’ve had to do some minor repairs but given the amount of crashes, it is amazingly tough. The forcast for the weekend is fine with northerlies. Perfect.

This is what I’m flying now:

And this is what I’m building!

The weekend ahead

Thursday, October 19th, 2006 by Scott

Well we are just heading into our “labour” long weekend.  Ahhhhhhh.  The weather is looking pretty good and there is just an emphasis on fixing things:

  • Minor plumping repairs – all irrigation fittings (plastic screw together) so no sweat soldering
  • Drive belt on the lawntractor (and associated lawn mowing)

The veggie garden need planting and there the usual vegitation control measures that need to be implimentet.

The WX is forcast to be good for slope soaring.  I’ll try to get some photos for you ….

Plumbing SUCCESS!

Friday, October 13th, 2006 by Ian

The rough plumbing is done. No leaks or “waterfalls”. I’ll have to do some more finishing when we pick out the fixtures we want, but now I can put the floor back togther and get the wall out of the way.

So there!  BTW, sweat soldering is easy!
