WebCam on the back yard….

… as the title says. No more contractor work so I’ll put it looking outside

P.S. I’m having trouble with the windows software to keep the image updating, so it MAY stop suddenly, but I should have it worked out tomorrow. The Linux program worked flawlessly.

Squids Downtime. No webcam.

Thursday, July 19th, 2007 by Ian

As I warned you, the Squid was unplugged for a couple days, but it’s back up now.  I had to move an electrical outlet into the crawl space and get a cable there for the internet.  There is no webcam though because the contractor, “didn’t appreciate” being watched.  I’m not sure where I would put in anyway since the shelf it was sitting on is gone.  Not much to see really anyway.  Drywall is up and being taped.

After my little bit of electrical work, I went upstairs and ripped the vanity and remaining bits out of the main bathroom.  All that’s left is the shower and I guess I’ll have to get on that tis weekend! Work work work…but I have to admit I (kind of) enjoy it.  It’s nice making old things new again.

Two Tidbits

For those paying attention to the minutia:

Dylan got his car towed yesterday.  He parked in a “no stopping” zone while he was at work at The Stampede.  Sigh.  Oh well, live and learn, says I.

And, the NEW whirlpool tub showed up yesterday.  That means I have everything to get started with the  second bathroom renovation.  I think I’ll start this weekend…

Anti-Climactic Electrical Inspection

Monday, July 9th, 2007 by Ian

I had everything ready — made sure there was no bare wire sticking out from beneath the wire grommet thingies, minimum separation of communication and power wires, smoke detector location, minimum 6 inches of wiring inside the boxes, etc, etc, etc.  Did the inspector dude even LOOK at anything?  Nope.  Came in, scanned the room, signed off and left.  5 minutes — TOPS.  Bah.  I guess I should be grateful it passed so easily.  There must not have been any red flags indicating a deeper inspection is required.  Ah well, it’s clear to cover with drywall now.

Just for fun,  I put a webcam in the basement.  You can’t see anything at night, but it’s interesting during the day!
