Bathroom Nears completion.

Sunday, June 28th, 2009 by Scott

On a more positive note, we’ve been working on finishing the house, witht he two big projects being underfloor insulation and the upstairs bathroom. We’ve lived with that one unfinished room for 12 odd years. I liked the plywood floor, the gree drywall thepiled up building material in the corner. It was homey. Now we have that the buildiner electician in and its going to be like this. 1) The areas that was the sink is walled off to create a linen cupboard opening into the hall. 2) A bench and drawer unit with two butlers sinks was made for us out of matai timber we had stored in the garage. 3) Dark terrocata tiles ont he floor and white on the walls and shower with muclti coloured trim. It looks much better than it sounds, 4) glass shower. It will be very classy.

Relay for Life

Friday, June 19th, 2009 by Joan

For everyone’s information, I’ll be away from the computer for the next week on any sort of a regular basis!! Tonight I’m taking part in the Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life at the Calgary Rugby Union’s field in SE Calgary. We have a team of about 12 Jazzercizers who are doing this in “support” of one of our ladies who has just been diagnosed with lung cancer, and of course in memory of those who are no longer with us. My family and neighbours have been generous sponsors and we have exceeded our expectations for the team! The idea is that we have at least 2 members of our team walking the track at all times between 7pm and 7am tomorrow. It could get quite odd around 5am!! There’s apparently food and entertainment all night long, and everyone who’s done it before says they’ve had a great time.
After that, I’m in charge of Zenya and Carter till next Friday. Sue and Len will be in Houston, Dallas and Ft. Worth on business. They’re good kids and won’t be any trouble–I just wonder what shape I’ll be in Saturday afternoon!! We’ll all be going to bed at 8 o’clock for sure!!

Scott Loses Job

Thursday, June 11th, 2009 by Scott

Well it is official. Our CE has decided to close the Nelson fisheries managment office and down size the rest around the country. Me and my whole team are down the road before 30 September. While not unexpected its been a tough day tellinga nd supporting my staff. There are a number of possible internal positions that i can apply for, but all are located elsewhere. I guess we shall see. To put peaople minds at ease, we’re well prepared, have no mortgage, money in the bank, Sam is self sufficient and I have choices.

Ian Avoids the Question

Monday, June 1st, 2009 by Scott

So Ian, no flying yet. Why?

Yes I have my dive ticket, Padi open water and SSRI (I think) rescue diver. Its never been a big thingfor me, as I didn’t get to the warm tropical water very often so don’t dive very much. When I did my open water test (on the edge of Cook strait) I ran into a moray eel and saw orca whales underwater (and up close). I have seldom concentrated so hard on sphinctor control and not looking like a big tasty seal as at that moment.

So DID you fly this weekend?
