The official word is that the &#8220;official&#8221; test for varroa mite confirms my sugar roll test &#8211; the hives are clean.  The powers that be may yet decide to try to irradicate the mites in the south island.  I got to inspect the test strips so it looks good!<\/p>\n<p>The bad news is that while chasing Sam around and rough housing, I slipped off the bed (while jumping over his computer) and badly sprained my ankle.  You may make your smug remark here &#8230;&#8230;.. !!  It was and remains very painful and I can neither walk nor drive.
