I drove home Sunday, Monday (a luxury – took two days instead of one – it was a snap that way).\u00c2\u00a0 Boys phoned last night to report an incredible storm, one like we’ve never seen there before.\u00c2\u00a0 No power, power lines down everywhere.\u00c2\u00a0 They counted four driveways on River Street blocked by fallen trees.\u00c2\u00a0 As of this morning the power is still out, but Hydro One’s website reports it was to be restored several hours ago.\u00c2\u00a0 Fortunately, we had tree pruning done last week, and most significant dead branches had been removed.\u00c2\u00a0 Even so, the boys say there is a fair amount of tree debris in the yard.<\/p>\n
The storm had been preceded by an intense heatwave.\u00c2\u00a0 Yesterday and the day before, when I checked weather, it was hotter and more humid there than it was here.\u00c2\u00a0 Amazing.\u00c2\u00a0 The boys must have suffered a miserable night last night because, with no power, they could use no fans.<\/p>\n
I’m rushing around like a madwoman, trying to catch up on the essentials I missed while away at the cottage.\u00c2\u00a0 Tomorrow morning, early, I leave for LA for a Bat Mitzvah (and wish me luck that no whacko decides to bomb the synagogues). \u00c2\u00a0 When I return, next Wednesday, I will resume in the madwoman rushing mode as I help get Brady ready.\u00c2\u00a0 I have to get him to DC by the 17th.\u00c2\u00a0 He’ll be in an apartment, so we’ll be carrying a household in the Odyssey.\u00c2\u00a0 This is why, at an advanced age, I still drive a minivan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
