{"id":398,"date":"2007-08-14T20:47:53","date_gmt":"2007-08-15T03:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/squids.ca\/Blog\/?p=398"},"modified":"2007-08-14T20:47:53","modified_gmt":"2007-08-15T03:47:53","slug":"update-for-scott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/?p=398","title":{"rendered":"Update for Scott."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scott&#8217;s been begging for an update, so here goes.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a pretty busy couple weeks:<\/p>\n<p><strong>The basement: <\/strong>It&#8217;s all been painted now.\u00c2\u00a0 The carpet is in, all the outlets and switches are &#8220;live&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 The contractor is coming back next week to finish up a few things he wanted to leave until the carpet was in, but, for the most part it&#8217;s done.\u00c2\u00a0 (Baseboards don&#8217;t count! &#8212; Shelley has them, but there&#8217;s no real rush to get them in).\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m gong to buy a 46&#8243; LCD TV tomorrow, so I&#8217;ll need to get the cable hooked up, but it&#8217;s all small jobs from there.\u00c2\u00a0 Quinn likes it so much he had to spend the night down there last night!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The bathroom:<\/strong> The tub went in tonight &#8212; much easier than I anticipated.\u00c2\u00a0 I was delayed little while because I scraped the &#8220;popcorn&#8221; off the ceiling, then had to fix up the drywall.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a hideously messy job (scrape, fill, sand, repeat), so I figured it was better to do while there wasn&#8217;t anything in the room.\u00c2\u00a0 So now, I start the plumbing &#8211; drains then taps and shower head, then &#8220;Denshield&#8221; (drywall), then tile the bath\/shower, then tile the floor, then the toilet and vantity go in&#8230;maybe paint before the floor tile, toilet and vanity&#8230;I dunno yet.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, and I have to remove the old medicine cabinets and fix the wall there too.\u00c2\u00a0 Anyway, lots to get done there.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m hoping to have the shower going before the kids go back to school, Sept 4, so we&#8217;re not sharing the one shower&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camping:<\/strong> In the midst of this, we went camping to the Columbia Valley for a week.\u00c2\u00a0 It was nice weather for the most part, but we came home a couple days early because it got quite cold and rainy.\u00c2\u00a0 When you&#8217;re only 3 hours from hom, it&#8217;s hard not to justify packing up and heading back to comfort.\u00c2\u00a0 Anyway, we got several good days of swimming and sunning in.\u00c2\u00a0 We stayed the first few days at the Fairmont Campground, which, honestly, was a bit of a &#8220;crampground&#8221;, but it wasn&#8217;t too bad, and we were a 2 minute walk from the pool.\u00c2\u00a0 We spent the next couple days at the &#8220;Redstreak Campground&#8221; in Kootney National Park.\u00c2\u00a0 A very nice spot if the weather had stayed with us.\u00c2\u00a0 Lots of room.<\/p>\n<p>So, that&#8217;s been the last couple weeks.\u00c2\u00a0 No time for planes or UAVs or anything like that, but it&#8217;s nice to see some of these home projects coming together.\u00c2\u00a0 In another month or so things should be returning to &#8220;normal&#8221;, whatever that is, and we&#8217;ll have a little more spare time on our hands.\u00c2\u00a0 There&#8217;s always more tiling to do!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scott&#8217;s been begging for an update, so here goes.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s been a pretty busy couple weeks: The basement: It&#8217;s all been painted now.\u00c2\u00a0 The carpet is in, all the outlets and switches are &#8220;live&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 The contractor is coming back next week to finish up a few things he wanted to leave until the carpet was&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/398"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/12"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=398"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/398\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=398"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=398"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blog.squids.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=398"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
