Dad’s home.

Posted on August 19, 2004 by Ian

I know it’s been a while since I’ve added anyting, but every time I sit down to type something, I don’t know what to say or talk about. Turns out I have to talk about my Dad.

He went in for surgury to get a colostomy bag so he’d be more comfortable, but they ended up taking the tumour out and fixed up his plumbing instead. Apparently this doctor is very pragmatic about doing the reconstruction, and won’t do it unless he feels good about the recovery. So, this is good news.

Anyway, Dad was supposed to come home from the hospital on Tuesday last, but he came down with a fever. A little bit scary at the time because they weren’t sure if it was a leak or what was going on, so they took him for a CAT scan. Everything came back normal, and it turns out he just had a simple urinary tract infection. Antibiotics cleared it right up, and he came home today.

He still looks VERY tired and a little sunken, but I think you would too if you haven’t eaten anyting for the past 2 months and underwent relatively major surgury! Our task now is to fatten him back up for the trials ahead!

Thats the spirit. We need to do everything we can to get him strong and positive now … the chemo and radio treatment will be hard on him and he need to be very strong to get through it ….

Good to hear you sounding more positive.

I feel he can beat this.
