I hope you all had (or are having (dang that date line)) a great easter weekend. Ours was pretty good at this end of the planet. We had a couple of high points, the first being dinner out at our local commune, the Riverside Community. Now they have a SUPER resaurant. The food was devine as always and the service … well just what you would expect. I tend to call it “dreamy”.
I had the lamb in case you were going to ask. As a starter, we had a platter of nice nibbles …. one of which was Hazelnut dukkah. YUM!
The next morning I started shelling the bin of nuts that I have. As they came out of the shell I toasted them in the oven and took the papery husk off them YUM … freshly toasted hazelnuts! I made a snack with the toasted nust, honey coated with a little spice .. YUM ….. leigh and sam had to be physically restrained (and if they are good I’ll let them out of the cupboard tomorrow) to avoid all the nuts being eaten right then.
Anyway, I’m going to make a big pile of the dukkah for next weekend.
We nailed 4 geocaches but the weather in the hills made it impossible to do any geodashes. Sorry.
Alas….oh well, Viv and I did 6 dashpoints, drove about 549 miles, into 3 states…had a great 15 hours. You can see her report on the Geodash website. We also found a weird Catholic shrine which was encrusted with millions of seashells, rocks, minerals, coloured glass etc…this place is bizarre…can I post pics on this website??
Well, better luck geodashing next month.
Wow! That was quite the little trip. Did you plan on it being that long? I’ll make up a front page story if you mail me the pics…
Ian
Sure, he planned it to be that long. Ter would live in the car, if there were enough room (I guess that would be a motor home, eh? Maybe someday). We actually began with a map of 13 points, but couldn’t make it to all. It was that last one – we knew it would be like shooting ducks in a barrel – that was the killer. We had to drive way down along the Mississippi to find a crossing, a drive that was fascinating until darkness fell. But that meant we had to scream home along interstates, a three hour boring drive in the dark. Needless to say, Ter loved it.
Well we began April properly with a beauty drive yesterday….not as long as last week’s thank God. We did 6 dashes, but only got to 5….and one great virtual geocache. What about you Lads this month, eh? Remember, if you do any, to put in your team name Geowillikers, otherwise the team gets no points. This is really FUN.
Brady is doing well…the usual anxieties…nott yet sure what the summer brings for him…he is still in the running for teaching English in Russia or Slovakia…or maybe he’ll get a Joe job, who knows? Tim’s grades are really good..he managed a B in Geometry, which he despises…I’m Impressed. He’s currently playing tennis.(Tennis?) and still has a few games of indoor soccer left this spring. Cheers, boys.
Hey, whats with this Blog…I keep typing in comments(which is arduous work for us pre-keyboarding guys) and nothing happens. What gives?
Refresh, Terry. Refresh!
Thank you…I think I’ll have a rum and coke.
