Leigh and I flew down to Christchurch (on airpoints) for a little break away from Nelson. The Big dog stayed at Colleen’s place and was spoiled rotten. The purpose of the trip was threefold, see Sam and check for clean underwear, visit with Joc and Rex (friends) and do a little geocaching. All three turned out great. Sam is thriving (though looking a little worried about the chemistry test Tuesday), the couple we stayed with are great (and were superbe hosts) and we nailed 10 geocaches (7 with J and R) of which some were VERY clever. One involved the use of magnets to extract the clues. Another took us to a park full of butterflies. They were very well done. The air was cool enough for walking, it was sunny and warm enough to sit out at cafes, and the trees were just changing colour. The campus looked wonderful in its fall colour.
On return there was a pile more saffron. “Pile” being a relative term.
Did you have a good weekend?
Sounds lovely. We’ve had truly rotten weather lately, including some wet snow and ice pellets over the weekend. Ter & I went to see the Brewers beat the Reds (boo-hoo, my Cincinnati home team) on Saturday. We were guests in a suite, and the Brewers’ stadium roof was closed, making it a comfortable way to spend an afternoon. Tim played varsity singles at a tennis tourney on Saturday – many of the varsity team were away at a state music competition. To his surprise and delight, Tim won the consolation championship for his (the bottom) level of singles.
Brady is stressed out with exams. Three were scheduled for today (Monday), but his Macro teacher gave him a break and rescheduled. He’s got two on Wednesday, moves out of the dorm on Thurs & Fri, then heads down to Myrtle Beach, SC, for a beach holiday. Seems there is a young woman involved.
Brady’s had no luck getting any summer internship or job in DC, so it will be back home after the week at Myrtle Beach. I’ll make him useful here (I have a dining room that needs painting), and then he’ll try to find work in Bala.
