The weather, now with 100% more Bala!

Posted on June 27, 2005 by Ian

Yes, I figured Vivian might be looking for the Bala weather, so I added it. Turns out she was going to ask for it anyway. How’s that for service from your friendly Webmaster?

I did some research on the turtle, and it indeed does look like a “Common Snapping Turtle”. Quite old actually, judging by how worn the carapace is. I hunted down a fairly good reference for them, which says “Incubation time, longest in the northern region, ranges from 55 to 125 days, but 75 to 95 days is more typical”, so I’d be on the lookout for young’ns in mid-September…not that anyone will be there!

In other news, we bought a new tent trailer today. I’ll get some pictures online. It’s a 2000 Starcraft 2407, but I really couldn’t find any good layout diagrams or anything online. Basically, it’s a standard 12′ trailer, king bed on one end, double on the other, an eating area that folds to a bed, a “couch” that folds to another bed, and all the standard amenities…fridge, stove, heater, yada yada yada.

I have a related question for the reading public, and please comment in the comments….I now have promised a large number of pictures to be posted for all to see, but it takes a long time to setup each picture and post a comment about it, etc. Should I set up a gallery? I think I’ll look into it, but tell me what you think. Another option is uploading them to Flickr and then redirecting people there…what do you think?

I have set up a gallery, but there’s nothing in it yet because I want us to play with it a bit so I can make it as useful as possible. The URL is http://squids.ca/gallery.
I think I will have to add logins for everyone so you can post pictures with comments. Let me know what you think.
