How ironic being hassled by Ian about not being in touch. The shame oh the shame.
Okay it is winter and I am hunkered down a wee bit. Work has been really really busy. Did I say REALLY ….The time at the office just seems to fly…. and the last thing I want to do at home is sit in front of the computer. So what the heck HAVE I been up to …. ther are one or two interesting tit-bits.
First have a look at some low-res (cell phone) shots in the gallery. I’ve posted them today.
I’ve embarked on a shed building project. We needed more dry firewood storage so I made up what I thought was a wee shed. I had a pre-existing base that was 3.2 by 1.6 metres. I put this on skids and added decking (25mm rough sawn pine) then built the frames at 2 m high from 100 by 50. It LOOKED small in the garage but when I rolled it out it was HUGE. I’ve been trying to decide what sort of a roof to put on it. Green colour steel to match the house or … my preference is a sod roof with wild flowers. Suggestions. It will sit along the drive (opposite where it is now).
We have been doing the odd spot of geocaching with Leigh’s Mom ….. very good fun. All the geodashes have been 100s of kms away up the side of bloody mountains … none of this corn field stuff.
Sam got his first exams back A+ for chem and A – for Physics. He seems to be getting the hang of University. He is in Queenstown skiing this weekend (the little toad).
I’ve built a solar bees wax melter … to recycle the bees wax from the hives, and a carry box for my hibachi. All nice. The bees will need a little attention this weekend
Lots of work travel … at least 2 – three days a week. I’ve been everywhere man in the last 8 weeks. The whole Ministry is in a flap with a very political minister (read micro managing and unprincipled) and a new CE … who we have not seen in 9 months. What a bother.
Exercise … sigh yes I’ve been riding my bike and getting lots of walking in. . All good news
Gardening. There is late winter gardening to get to work on, pruning, burning and spraying.
So there you go, been very flat out and just not all that communicative. Its just starting to look like spring, seen a few early spring lambs and some daffodils. I’ll take a few pic s if I get time …..
SO I’m not entirely living in a little box under the stairs.
Your little shed looks big enough for me to live in!! Glad to hear from you and to know you are still alive – not that I add to the website much myself:)
Hello to Leigh et al; Quinn and I were out a couple of weekd ago to a market garden to berry-pick and he had a wonderful visit with the resident ducks – brought back lots of Maple Hill memories!
Looking forward to another camping trip this week; hopefully lots of sun.
