Well, we’ve been to the lawyers and everything is signed. We’re good to go on December 14, 2001! Yay! There is a bit of a story having to do with the lawyers. The bank had quoted us with a payout penalty of $2000 to close our old mortgage, but when we got to the lawyers the documents had a $5000 penalty! Yikes! Three grand is a fair whack of cash. So, stress levels rose, tension was palpable, you know. I did get the bank to capitulate. The manager told me the bank would have to cover the difference if they insisted that it was $5000. So, hopefully that’s the end of that and we can keep on with the stress of packing up our lives into little cardboard boxes….
