It’s not entirely unexpected, as the doctor had warned us that this might happen, but, on the plane ride home from Mexico, Shelley started feeling very bloated and couldn’t pass any urine, so when we got home, she took herself to the ER (she wouldn’t LET me come along — saying she’d have to wait hours anyway and there was no sense both of us waiting). After about 6 hours they admitted her. Personally, I think this is a good thing. Get this cyst (that Shelley has named “Elvis”) out and get on with life!
Here’s a quick run down of the details:
- She’s got a catheter in now and is feeling more comfortable.
- One of her legs has swollen up, probably due to reduced kidney functioning because of the cyst’s physical pressure (and maybe the lack of ability to pee?) This happened with both her prenancies, so it’s not THAT unusual for her, but they ultrasounded her leg this morning to make sure everything was alright. No word on that yet.
- Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. I have no idea what time or anything like that. From the sounds of it, they’ll need to cut a fairly large incision, no little bikini line here!
This week will be interesting for sure. I pretty much have to be at work, as I took last week off, Sam (our nephew from New Zealand) arrives today, Shelley is (obviously) out of commission for at least this week, Shirley is coming out Tuesday afternoon, etc, etc, etc.
We’ll manage, I’m sure, and make sure Sam gets to do what he came here to do: SKI! (And visit!) No worries, we have a great network of friends around, ready and willing to help out. However monetary donations are ALWAYS appreciated! 😉
Is it old Elvis of Fat Elvis?
Take care Shelley!
Ah, for the best, get the dang thing dealt with…I like Scott’s comment!!
All will work out well,I’m certain!!
I think it’s Fat Elvis judging by the size of it!
