The server had a bit of a power supply meltdown this afternoon. I have it back up because I happened to have the right power supply in my crawlspace (what ARE the chances?!), but it’s hobbling and roughly cobbled together.
Hopefully in the next little while I’ll get it up in a more solid fashion. Maybe even a “new” (Read: slightly less old) computer. For now, I’ll just be happy and get ALL my information off the drives!
Woo hoo!
It looks like I’ve lost one of the two hard drives as well. Hopefully I can get it back, but this may mean the end of squids as I know it — it’s such a crappy old machine I’ll need to update it soon and this might be my opportunity!
Don’t worry, a new machine will be along and running soon.
Let me know if you see anything really bad.
Good work Ian and thanks for maintaining the machine. We out in the hinterland really appeaciate the effort.

Can we help … i mean if I was there i could look over your shoulder suggesting various random ideas while slopping a beer down your back.
The lad’s a stinkin genius…as I told him last night, the only thing I’ve got in my crawlspace is a centipede or two…at least, I think they’re there…ain’t gonna catch me crawlin’ in any crawl space…
Missing the latest missive from the Antipodes…how is spring treating the ducks, bees, eels, dogs and most importantly, humans down there?
Worry not, I’ll get something going. I’ve been running it too long to just let it die. I’m backing everything that’s left up. All I seem to have lost was the music files, which I backed up about 6 months ago, and the newer music files are “backed up” on the kids’ iPods, so I can recover them from there. No biggie, I just need to find the hardware to make it work.
Hopefully, what’s left will continue to run until that time.
