Well Ian is right I’ve been a bit lazy ……
Okay the the firstkey things going on right now are that Leigh and Sam are getting ready for their USA trip. Sam will have 2.5 week and leigh closer to 5 in the US. They are splitting it abut half and half in Claifornia and the North east staying with friends having time in new York Connetticut and San Fransisco and too many other places to mention. They leave at the end of the month.
The second is that I got my glider to “thermal” this weekend, catching actual lift to keep the glider in the air for 20-30 minutes at a time circling up in the lift and then heading for a wee tour before circling up again. I know it sounds silly but its something I’ve wanted to do since I was about 14 … so its nice to actually get it done. Ian i finished off my canterbury Sailplane “arrow” and i’m ready to do some slope soaring the moment the wind blows.
Its been very cold and frost this weekend. Not prairie cold but cold for us.
Congratulations on your “thermaling”! Maybe a silly question to you, but do you still have to guide the plane as it’s caught in the thermal?
Yes I do … I circle the glider around in the rising air trying to stay in the thermal. When the thermal goes i head back for more lift. I also need the glider to stay where i can see it …..
I’ll do some video one day … maybe som pictures as well… Its hard to take photos while flying …
