I don’t want to take too much time, so this will be a quick update:
July 5th: Went to Nicki’s parents house in Chelmsford after spending the morning at th eLondon Science Museum (Shel and Dyl went to the Victoria and Albert).
July 6: Drove to York, via a couple stops in Leicester — Coleorton and Barrow-Upon-Soar. My family came from this area. We visited a couple grave yards here — 400 year old graves! Arrived in York — a little late, so we just grabbed some food and went to bed. NO BED BUGS! Quinn is starting to heal..
July 7:  Started the day walking to Yorkminster Cathedral…cool old place. After a bit of a tour, Dylan, Quinn and I went up the tower then we all went below into the “Undercroft” — crypts. Lots of neat old stuff! Then we wandered around “The Shambles” and visited some shops. We also visited Jorvik — a recreation of the Viking town on York. Quinn bought a sword that we’ll have to ship home.
July 8: Did a few more little things in York and went to “The Barley Hall” — A medival building. Then we drove to Edinburgh. The place we’re staying is a castle — really! Very cool B and B. We could spend a couple hours just looking at the grounds around it! After dinner (again, fairly late) in Linlithgow, we headed to bed.
July 9 (Today): We took the train into Edinburgh — again from Linlithgow — and have been walking the Royal mile. Up to the Castle for a couple hours and now we’re walking back down towards the palace.
That’s where we’re at now. Kids and Shelley are waiting, so I’ll have to write more at another time. No tragedies, accidents or illnesses! Knock on wood. The driving has been okay…I’m a little rusty but it’s not too hard. More when we have time!
Note from Hanoi – glad to hear you’re alive and well. Sam couldn’t raise you on text and we didn’t think of the Blog. Our brains are fried from the heat–average 32 to 34 with one day 40!! Everything has gone great–off to Ha Long Bay this am.
No bed bugs–just a spider the size of your palm on the wall!! Eating well–in a sense it’s like living in a bee hive. Motor scooters everywhere and crossing the street is eventful to say the least! Leigh nearly got taken out twice yesterday! We’ll post a blog when we get back to hotel (Scott says). More later.
Wow! Sounds like an interesting trip so far. The cemetary sounds cool!! Did you run into any dead relatives?
And…how can you be “rusty” at driving on the other side of the road??
Hope the bedbugs don’t dampen Quinn’s appetite for adventure.
