Fourth Anniversary

Monday, October 27th, 2008 by Ian

I’d just like to point out that this is the fourth anniversary of Warren’s death.  I still miss the old man for sure.

I’ll be marking the occation with a rye and water (we have no ginger).  Did any one else do anything, even a small thing?

Calgary 1997 – 2008

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 by Scott

As Ian alluded to below, we put Calgary to sleep on Monday morning as his quality of life was getting worse and there was no hope of improvement. he went peacfully with leigh and Sam with im and icecream on his nose. The whole tribe here is pretty shattered but feel very good about the life he lead. There is a big hairy (and at times smelly) hole in our lives.

He was a very good dog!

Short Lived Excitement

Unbelievably Air Canada has shafted me again.  After getting stuck in Chicago for 24 hours, I’m now stuck in Vancouver for 24 hours.  We tried everything, Cathay Pacific, United, out of San Francisco, L.A.  Nothing.  So, we’re going to miss our first meeting there, have dinner with the execs and tr to pik up whatever pieces we can.

Bummer.

Off to Japan!

I’m just sitting, waiting for my taxi now.  I’ll admit I’m a little bit nervous about this trip, though I’m not really sure why — there’s only about 7 hours of meetings and stuff we have to do and the rest of the time is ours to explore Tokyo.  Tomorrow we meet with and have dinner with the exec’s of Fujitsu Electronics, which should be interesting and the the next day we ride the bullet train down to Mie to go on a tour of the fabrication plant where they make our chips.  That’s it.  Then back to Tokyo to explore.

What should I be sure to bring home?  I’ll be online once I get to the hotel, so lets see if any of you can come up with any good ideas.  I don’t really have any.

On a sad note, Scott and Leigh’s dog “Calgary” had to be put down yesterday.  I guess he was losing the use of his back legs — old age really.  He was almost 11 years old.  Leigh is quite upset I know and I haven’t heard from Scott on the subject yet.  Very sad.  Quinn will be most upset, but I haven’t told him yet.

Genealogy

Friday, October 10th, 2008 by Ian

Since going over to teh UK, and perhaps before that, I’ve harboured an interest in the genealogy that Dad had been doing.  I haven’t REALLY put much effort into it yet, but I have come up with a way to share the information without too much hassle.  I’ve set up the Squids Genealogy Pages using a tool called phpGedView.  Now, all it REALLY does is allows viewing and editting of GEDCOM files, but it’s neat to browse through and maybe I WILL be able to add some information.  For now, none of you has an account, so you’ll only be able to browse, and only the dead people.  If you’d like more access, email me a password and I’ll set you up.

Viv – if you’d like to send me a GEDCOM of the work you’ve done and your family, I can tie it into the tree…
